So, lately it seems everyone is buying laptops- and pink ones at that. I will be honest, I never really cared much for colored laptops and whatnot. I am a mom- I have stickers on my old black laptop, my desktop one is a mess and my son once threw water on the monitor so there were streaks on it, etc. etc... you get the point. Anyways, I never really thought much about getting a colored laptop until I saw my friends last month at Starbucks... it was SO cute, and girlie, and clean, and it was all hers! I decided I wanted one- something that was mine, with no stickers or smudge marks, and my son surely would not like the girly pink, so I set out on a mission to research pink laptops and find myself one.

Many people have laptops these days because their portability is good allowing them to do some work on the go. Many of these laptops are highly affordable with several priced below $500. On top of that, the specs are quite impressive being able to do all of the basic tasks along with some multimedia tasks too.

Like desktop computers, laptops are normally black or silver in color so they match with other electronics and peripherals. To increase their appeal, many manufacturers are also offering laptops in other colors like blue and red. Since laptops are often carried to different places, some mainly women may recognize these laptops as fashion accessories. Dell sees the potential of pink laptops and has produced many pink models in the past. One of the later models that are quite popular is the Dell Inspiron 1764. This Inspiron model is for the power user because it has a large 17.3 inch display and a large 9-cell battery for longer battery life. It is backed with a powerful Core i3 processor that is friendly on power consumption along with 4 GB of RAM which is more than enough for multitasking high-end applications. It also uses the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system making it a lot more stable and faster than its Vista predecessors. Other nice extras include a large 500 GB hard disk, built-in web cam, and media reader. Like other Dell laptops, the Dell Inspiron 1764 is easier to repair and the $800 price tag is reasonable for its impressive specs and large display. However, this is not the kind of laptop to carry around as it is quite heavy and bulky but perfect as replacement for your desktop. The Dell Inspiron 1545 has a lot of the same options and comes with a smaller price tag, a smaller screen (15 inches) and a lighter weight.

For a lighter and smaller alternative, the Samsung NC10-13P is a decent light netbook. The pink finish looks nice, but expect limited performance with the 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor and 1 GB RAM. Fortunately, the 10.1-inch display runs Windows XP so it should be a friendly laptop for people doing basic productivity tasks like word processing, e-mailing, or surfing the net. The keyboard is nicely sized and it is priced roughly under $500.

Younger folks will enjoy the expressive Disney Netpal by ASUS. ASUS pioneered the netbook market early on so the specs are quite impressive. It uses the same processor as the Samsung NC10-13P, but it is extremely light at just about 2 pounds. This is because the screen measures 8.9 inches which may be small, but good enough to run the Disney applications that it comes with. The pink design really appeals children as it has the familiar Disney logo and nice floral details of various pink shades.

If both battery life and portability are major concerns, the Toshiba Mini NB205-N325PK impresses with a battery that lasts about 9 hours. The specs are similar to the other pink netbooks, but some may like the Windows 7 Starter operating system that it uses. The posh pink design looks more like fuchsia.

Sony laptops are quite pricey, but they make nice pink models like the Sony VAIO VPC-EB17FX/P. The laptop is not too large having a 15.5 display, but it bears Full HD specifications allowing 1080p content to be played. It is also a speedy laptop powered by a Core i3-330M processor. Like the Dell Inspiron, this Sony model has 4 GB of RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium. The main and significant difference is its Blu-ray drive allowing HD media to be played back. For a Blu-ray player and speedy processor, the $900 price tag makes it a valuable multimedia system.
